The recently formed Community Committee, a sub group of the main Trust Board, had its first meeting on Monday at Sincil Bank.
The committee has responsibility for forging and maintaining links with The Goal Holiday Club, Playing for Success, The 3C’s, Football in the Community and other community initiatives linked to the football club.
Currently, the finishing touches are being put to a job advertisement for a full time Community Development Worker to operate out of the Football Club, within the Sincil Bank area. This is being funded by The Tudor Trust and is the result of a successful bid for funding made by the Supporters Trust. This successful bid is sufficient to employ someone for 21 months and we are excited at the prospect of the successful candidate working cooperatively with other workers at the Club, in the Trust and in the community to make a real difference to the local area. As far as we are aware, this is a first for a football club and all concerned are keen to make it a success.
The meeting on Monday also focussed on how to make the website more relevant and trust member – friendly and we hope to be bringing readers more information about fellow members and their opinions as the season progresses. “Watch this space!” as they say.
The 3C’s initiative which aims to focus on Comments, Compliments and Complaints is an important part of the Trust’s work and enables supporters to contact us with issues that may be of concern. However, we would like it to focus on all three of the “C’s” and so please let us know when we are getting things right too!
Finally, it was good to meet a number of you as you renewed your season tickets on Wednesday lunchtime. If you haven’t yet renewed, well it’s not too late to do so, and if you haven’t rejoined the Trust yet, then remember that by joining the Trust, you not only give yourself a voice that is heard all the way to the boardroom, but this year you will also be contributing towards the pitch cover, freeing up money for players.
Like many of you that I met on Wednesday, I am feeling optimistic about the new season and look forward to watching football played with pace and energy come August.
Up the Imps!
